In the Public Safety sector, a college education is often required to qualify for higher-ranking positions and pay grades.

The more knowledgeable you are about your field, the greater the number of opportunities you’ll receive. Herzing University’s Public Safety programs allow students to choose a degree program that best aligns with their career goals.

Academy Training Hours = College Credit Herzing University Online will grant up to 32 undergraduate semester credit hours to your Public Safety program for your academy training! To qualify, the state or federally approved law enforcement academy must qualify the graduate to become a sworn peace officer in the jurisdiction or agency supported by the academy. Official documentation must be provided by the student showing the approved program was completed in its entirety.

Badge-to-Grad Scholarship Sworn law enforcement officers are eligible to receive the Badge-to-Grad scholarship that significantly reduces their cost of tuition to $250/semester credit for most undergraduate programs and $500/semester credit for graduate degrees.

Additional benefits include:
  • Waived enrollment fee
  • Free evaluation of academy training and previous college experience
  • 10% tuition scholarship for children and parents of all National Sheriffs’ Association affiliated members
  • 10% tuition scholarship for NSA employees who are not certified law enforcement professionals

Program Offerings
Earn your Associate Degree in as little as 12 months
Typically a 24-month program, those who qualify for credit transfer from an approved academy training program can graduate in 12 months when taking approximately two courses at a time.
  • Associate of Science in Public Safety

Earn your Bachelor’s Degree in 3 years or less
For those students approved to transfer police academy credit, any Public Safety bachelor’s degree program can be completed in three years by taking approximately two courses at a time. Students may be eligible to graduate sooner by increasing their course load at any time.
    • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a Concentration in Homeland Security
    • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice
    • Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety

    Many Business, Healthcare, and Technology degrees are also available!
